I've busked since an early age, and am as passionate as I am professional about performing; music is my full time job, and I wouldn't want that any other way. I've played events from lobby music at an opera house to a bunch of pop bangers at a rugby stadium and all sorts in between, and have learnt to always fine tune both my set list and how I come across according to the occasion. I was also fortunate enough to be able to refine my craft further by taking a degree in popular music performance at Leeds Conservatoire. I also take students privately, produce music, release my own material (under the alias Will Matthew) and do still busk regularly, as I see it as very important to be in good practice and ready for a gig even at last minute.

Matt was a joy to work with on Grease, not only did he sound great but he was easily adaptable and fit into the band perfectly. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a bass player/guitarist and will definitely be booking him again for future projects.

A joyous watch - Matt was a bright spark down at The Brew Society with his acoustic set in our back room. A very professional and punctual artist who can certainly entertain a crowd with his showmanship. A lovely tinge of John Mayer to his songwriting and with graceful vocals and exquisite guitar playing, any venue would be glad to have him.

I've got about an hour's worth of original material, and can bring a band if desired — this of course alters the price, as does the time of the week.

I'm happy and able to spend the day adding guitar, bass or vocals to a track, and can be of use in writing and arrangement too.

I'll set the whole day set aside — music for first dance, to acoompany drinks as people enter, eat, dance and leave... you get up to 5 hours' worth of music spread however you'd like.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Soulful and groovy takes on all repertoire, fostering a classy and retro atmosphere. Additionally, friendly crowd engagement when desired.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

A sold out production of Grease in Wakefield.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I won't put my gigs back to back, for my own sake as well as clients'. The odd half hour shift here and there is never a problem, even an hour rarely so — if an event is looking particularly precarious, just let me know as soon as you can.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I'm more than happy to play a few tunes off of Spotify through the speakers between sets, appropriate to the venue and event.

How much time do you need to set up?

I have a classic plug in and play kind of set up, 5 minutes is plenty so long as I know where the power is.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! I go through all these tunes regularly, they're on the set list to be played — if there's any in particular that I've just got to play, let me know in advance so the set can start strong and go out with a bang!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

My busking set up is more than loud enough for small/medium venues (it's also an AER which sounds mint) and I have a second speaker I often hook it up to for a volume boost, or for venues wanting music in two rooms. I can also provide my own power for outdoor venues.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I ask for 7 days notice to learn up to 3 songs properly, mostly to allow for my schedule, but will do my best at last minute if needs be. Just don't expect me to do a flawless one-man Bohemian Rhapsody this weekend!
