Kate Stevens is a professional singer based in Hampshire. She has performed for nearly two decades with a diverse range of musicians from acoustic duos and trios, event bands, 11 piece jazz bands, and theatre shows. She has been fortunate enough to play intimate dinner parties, music venues, festivals, theatres and concert halls in the UK and Europe. Kate's musical roots are based in rock and roll however in recent years she has developed her love and repertoire in blues and jazz. Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Caro Emerald, Imelda May, Susan Tedeschi, Beth Hart, and Storm Large are big inspirations and influences to her personal style of smooth, uncomplicated vocals. "We booked Kate for my daughter’s 30th birthday garden party at our house in August 2018 where she sang outside to 70 people from the veranda across the garden. We can honestly say that she delivered 150% to all of us (different age ranges) a thoroughly professional and delightful performance that made the evening. "Wow - Kate was awesome. Such a lovely person and fabulous voice! I hired her for my husband's 60th birthday party in our back garden and she was perfect for the event. She went with the flow of the party - background effect at the start when people were arriving and saying hello, to getting louder and more upbeat as the party livened up. What do your clients love most about your performances?

I'm often mistaken for a CD playing in the background! I take great care to set the right tone, especially for more intimate events like dinner parties where your guests want to be entertained but still have a good chat! That and getting everyone up and dancing when it's more of a party!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed in a variety of venues from local music venues, Arts Centres and Theatres across the UK. In 2024 I've been lucky enough to perform in some beautiful concert halls and arenas in Europe. I always enjoy performing at client's private events though as you really get to connect with your audience and make the day extra special!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love classic artists like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Edith Piaffe. Like many singers growing up Amy Winehouse had a huge impact in bringing the jazz genre to a new generation and since then I've been inspired by Caro Emerald, Imelda May and Susan Tedeschi in particular.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I've been lucky to perform with the UK's leading Adele tribute touring show across theatres in the UK - however playing in Tallin to a 1,600 strong crowd this year, and Kaunas to 6,000 people at an outdoor festival will always be special!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Most events are liable to change a little on the day, this is especially true of weddings in particular. I'll be as flexible as possible to ensure your event runs smoothly and you get the performance you deserve - if things change just let me know so we can adjust accordingly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely - once the initial PA set up is complete I play an iPod playlist suitable to my style as standard, unless your venue already has background music. Playlist music is also provided between sets to keep you and your guests entertained.

How much time do you need to set up?

For solo performer bookings I usually set up about 30 to 45mins before the performance time. As soon as the PA is set up I can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely. The sets I put together a typically crafted based on years of experience of knowing what works for different types of events - so the initial set will always be designed to provide the atmosphere you want. However if there are particular favourites from my lists just let me know and I'll work them in the best place!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes - everything I need to perform will be provided and is all fully insured. All I will need is access to a good power supply nearby - which I'll check with you in the consultations.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in my song list there may still be a chance I already know it. If there is a special song you'd like I'm happy to learn this with enough notice - just get in touch and we can chat it through.
