Jocelyn Orrell

Jocelyn began her musical life as a Cathedral Chorister at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral at the age of 8 for two years and then went on to become one of the founding members of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral's Girls Choir at the age of 11. From 2016 to 2018 she was a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain performing under the baton of Ben Parry and Stephen Layton. In 2019 she graduated with first class honours from the University of York studying Music as first study soprano. During this time she sang as part of The 24 under the direction of Robert Hollingsworth, as well as other student choirs of varying genres and church choirs in the surrounding area of York. Whilst Jocelyn enjoys solo and choral work, she has a special interest in consort singing. During her time at university, she was one of the founding members of 'Mozzafiata', a flexible early music ensemble, which aims to perform lesser-known pieces as well as early music favourites from the likes of Monteverdi. After graduating, Jocelyn became a lay clerk at Clare College, Cambridge performing high-profile concerts (St John Smith Square, Kings College Cambridge) and tours (Netherlands). Since then she has carried on freelance singing in choirs, consorts and solo. Highlights including soloist with Liverpool Welsh Choral, consort singing in a performance of Buxtehude's Jesu Membra Nostri at Birmingham's St Chad Cathedral and collection of early music concert at Liverpool Cathedral.
