Emily Burridge

Emily Burridge is a virtuoso concert cellist, composer, arranger and producer. To describe her Mellow cello Music a reviewer wrote, “Emily Burridge lifts the subtle art of cello to new dimensions with her inspirational, moody, soulful and joyous musicianship.” Her skill of deftly improvising has expanded her career beyond the usual associations of the cello as a classical instrument and her composing skills while generally featuring the cello are also realised in a live setting through the adaptation of looping pedals. As a performer, composer and arranger Emily provides a vast selection of cello repertoire both for solo performance, or with pre-recorded backing track accompaniment with genres including classical, crossover, ambient jazz and folk. In performance as well as performing standard classical repertoire she can also utilise the looping pedals and multitrack harmonies and rhythms and recreate a variety of pieces which are on general release and are very popular for ambient background cello music mixed with classical repertoire for receptions. As an arranger she has an array of cello covers of pop songs produced for previous special requests including: Snow Patrol “Chasing Cars“ cello cover (on general release) Queen “I want to break free”, The National “I need my girl”, Magnetic Fields “The Book of Love”. Special requests for popular repertoire arrangement with piano accompaniment include; “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, “River flows in you” by Yiruma. The choice of classical repertoire also includes her arrangement for seven cellos of Pachelbel’s “Canon” - “Pachelbel’s canon re-written” (on general release”). Puccini’s famous operatic aria “Che Gelida Manina” with orchestral accompaniment A selection of classical repertoire with pre-recorded piano accompaniment including the famous piece “The Swan“ by Saint Saens. As a producer with many years in the music business she has a pro recording facility on which the arrangements and covers are recorded. However in creating an arrangement as a special request it is an additional cost to a performance fee. For special events she provides her own amplification and generally performs for special events with her stunning blue electric cello featured in her profile photos.
