I obtained a music degree from Cardiff University and studied guitar under Professor John Mills at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. I am a published composer and am regularly active as a performer, composer and teacher. I have given guitar recitals across Wales in prestigious venues such as St. David's Cathedral and Kidwelly Castle. In addition to performing as a soloist, I also play in ensembles; in an instrumental duo with fellow classical guitarist Russell Lloyd, and the acoustic folk/rock duo 'TangleJack' with John-Paul Davies. For events such as weddings I can therefore offer an broad musical package for your day; classical guitar for the ceremony and afternoon entertainment, or the acoustic duo in the event that you prefer vocal music. TangleJack can also offer evening entertainment at weddings where a loud or raucous band is not required, i.e. no drums :-)

Duncan’s playing was beautiful and the choice of music was perfect for our wedding reception. We and a lot of our guests are professional musicians and everyone commented on Duncan’s playing. Duncan was friendly and clear in all communication from the beginning and we were so impressed we are hoping to go and watch him in a concert.

I can’t imagine our wedding day without Duncan’s beautiful musical contribution. Duncan made some of the most important moments of our day even more memorable through his stunning guitar playing. Duncan was very friendly and approachable when we contacted him. We discussed the type of music we wanted and the moments of the ceremony that we wanted him to accompany. Duncan made some excellent suggestions and was happy to learn new music to fit with our ideas. In the ceremony the signing went on for longer than we expected. Thankfully, Duncan came to the rescue and filled in with more music from his wide repertoire. His playing was so beautiful that the congregation even gave him an impromptu round of applause when he finished. We are very grateful to Duncan for helping to make our day so special. We would highly recommend him for a wedding or any event that needs classical guitar music.

Not only is he the best exponent of classical guitar I have seen perform, but he also liaised brilliantly with the other musicians, speakers and venue management on the day. What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

How much time do you need to set up?

I endeavour to set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I am happy to discuss the set list and make sure we find what works for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. I bring my own electroacoustic classical guitar, and mini PA system and amplifier.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If there is a special song or piece you'd like me to learn I would be happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £25 for this service to take into account time spent transcribing, arranging and practising the new material.
