Dawn Coulshed grew up in the north of Scotland where she began learning the piano at the age of seven. A few years later she started violin lessons and began to teach herself the guitar. In 2009 Dawn moved to Edinburgh to complete her Bachelors in music at Edinburgh Napier University. At university Dawn performed with several ensembles including the chamber orchestra, contemporary ensemble and chamber choir. In 2010 Dawn was given the opportunity to study abroad at Mansfield University, Pennsylvania. Here she received piano lessons from Nancy Boston and took advantage of a busy music department performing piano duets and singing as a chorus member in The Marriage of Figaro. On returning to Edinburgh, Dawn built on her classical voice training and received singing lessons from Renee Stefanie in more contemporary styles including Jazz and pop. Since moving to London, Dawn has enjoyed performing with the Roundhouse Choir at a range of festivals and venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. Dawn also performs as a singer-songwriter and is a member of the acoustic indie band Evering.

Dawn played at our wedding ceremony. As the bride, I didn't get to hear all the songs, however the ones that I did here were absolutely beautiful and made the ceremony atmosphere perfect. The songs were timed well and worked well with different parts of the ceremony. I asked for specific songs from Dawn and she took on the challenge and executed them wonderfully. Seemed that nothing was out of her wheelhouse. I am so pleased that I booked a pianist for the day and Dawn was professional, timely and her work was seamless. Thank you so much!

Dawn Coulshed is a first-class all-round musician. When Dawn sings the listener is struck at first by the artless simplicity of her delivery. Dawn sings with a beauty which manages both to be immediately moving and to compel attention to the story she is telling. However beneath the appearance of simplicity a high degree of technical competence is concealed. Dawn has great accuracy of intonation and is an excellent reader. She is also a reliable band member, punctual and easy to work with. In addition Dawn is a promising songwriter and (from the little I’ve heard of her) a decent pianist and guitarist. All in all, I couldn’t recommend Dawn more highly.

We hired Dawn to dep in for our normal singer for a function gig. We didn't have a lot of time to rehearse, but Dawn was able to quickly learn rep we already had, as well as offering music from her own catalogue. Throughout the process, Dawn was able to clearly define her musical abilities and limits, making rehearsals very efficient (extremely useful in any musical environment) and enjoyable. A fantastic singer, an accomplished instrumentalist, an excellent musician; I highly recommend contacting Dawn, as she would fit into a range of musical scenarios, and would surely not disappoint! We will most definitely be working together again.
