Charlotte Schoeters was born in Wilrijk (Belgium). She first became acquainted with singing as a Scaldis Cantat choir member. Very soon she did several productions home and abroad with Music Theatre Transparant. For two years Charlotte studied with soprano Anne Cambier before obtaining her BA at the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg (The Netherlands) with Xenia Meijer. During her bachelor studies Charlotte took a six month Erasmus residence at the Hochshule für Musik in Basel, studying with bariton Marcel Boone. After having obtained her DipRAM Master of Arts Diploma with distinction, Charlotte graduated in July 2016 from the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Lillian Watson and James Baillieu. Charlotte is a Britten-Pears Young Artist, Royal Academy Songcircle member, Köhn Foundation Bach Cantata Soloist, RAM Patrons’ Award and Richard Lewis/ Jean Shanks Award finalist and she was awarded the Michael Head Song Prize, Joan Chissell Schumann Lieder Prize, Eldee Scholarship Prize, Dorothy Pattison Prize and the Clifton Prize for Singing. Operatic highlights include her debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (W.A. Mozart) at the Hackney Empire Theatre in London conducted by Jane Glover. Other roles include Lola (Cavalleria rusticana), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Susan (A Dinner Engagement), Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Barbarina (The Little Green Swallow) and recently her debut as Mrs. Julian (Owen Wingrave) in the 2016 British Youth Opera production at the Peacock Theatre in London. In 2015 Charlotte was invited to perform at the Jordan Hall in Boston during the Boston Early Music Festival and at the St. Thomaskirche in Leipzig during the Leipzig Bach Festival led by Masaaki Suzuki and Rachel Podger. Other solo appearances include at the Wigmore Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Lincoln Cathedral, St. Paul's Church Covent Garden, Birmingham Cathedral, Sheldonian Theatre (Oxford), BBC Radio 3 'In Tune’, De Munt (Brussels), Austrian Cultural Forum and a private song recital at Lady Solti's House in London. Charlotte has participated in masterclasses with Nelly Miricioiu, Vesselina Kasarova, Susan Bullock, with Natalie Dessay, Laurent Naouri & Roger Vignoles (Britten-Pears Young Artist platform), Amanda Roocroft & Joseph Middleton (Brel Academy of Art Song), Margreet Honig, Ton Koopman, Charlotte Margiono and with Marjana Lipovšek and Alfred Burgstaller during the International Summer Academy at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Belgian soprano Charlotte Schoeters shone in two songs by Purcell. Of particular delight was her part-nership with brilliant solo trumpeter Fraser Tannock in music by Haendel where together with Michael Waldron at the organ their synchronisation was remarkable.
