Ben has just completed a degree in music at Cambridge University and is currently undertaking an MA in Orchestral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. In Cambridge, he conducted the CUMS Symphony Orchestra , Cambridge University Pops Orchestra and the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra, amongst others. In 2011, he founded the London Youth Symphony Orchestra (now London Young Sinfonia), which has since performed works including Holst's The Planets and Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony. Ben also has a keen interest in Musical Theatre and Opera and has served as Musical Director on several productions, including Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along (Mumford Theatre), Maury Yeston's Nine (ADC Theatre), Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia (Cambridge University Opera) and Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (Bedford Park Festival). He was also the Musical Director for the world premiere of Alan Hawkshaw's Berlin (Bloomsbury Theatre, 2013), featuring a cast including John Owen-Jones and Paul Nicholas, and Musical Supervisor for Dracula (Mr Swallow The Musical), both at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and London's Soho Theatre. As Assistant Conductor of Vocal Futures, Ben has worked on productions of Haydn The Creation and Handel The Choice of Hercules. Future plans include further performances with the London Young Sinfonia, with repertoire including Beethoven Symphony No. 7 and Brahms Violin Concerto.
