French conductor Victor Jacob is currently studying orchestra conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, with Sian Edwards and Colin Metters. After developing his passion for music at an early age through the studying of violin, he continued singing and piano at the French National Public Radio children’s choir La Maîtrise de Radio France as a chorister and soloist. From 2004, at the age of 13, he has received the conducting training of Toni Ramon and then Sofi Jeannin at Radio France. He went on to complete his BMus at Paris La Sorbonne and his solfege advanced degree at the Conservatoire de Paris. Victor had the opportunity to study orchestra conducting under the leadership of Neil Thomson before joining an MA at the Royal Academy of Music. He has participated in master classes with David Zinman, Sir Mark Elder and Martyn Brabbins (symphonic repertoire), Jane Glover and Mark Shanahan (opera), Imogen Cooper and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment with Maggie Faultless. He is music director of the St Bartolomew’s Orchestra in London, and founding conductor of Place de l’Opéra orchestra in London and the Ensemble Nouvelles Portées in Paris. Future plans include concerts in London and Paris, with Shostakovich 1st violin concerto, Copland Appalachian Spring and Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin.
