I am primarily a pianist, and trained on piano and trumpet at RWCMD Junior Department from 2013-15 and was a member of National Youth Jazz Wales from 2012-14. I studied under Richard Jones (piano) and Richard Whalley (composition) whilst at Manchester University. I am part of the Tom Barber Trio, Laga Runa, Jude the Obscure and was co-director of Manchester University Big Band, specialising in playing cutting-edge contemporary music. I have led many ensembles in the past including the Cardiff High School Big Band, the 8-piece Subjunctive Mood and 24-piece jazz group the Subjunctive Orchestra. I perform on trumpet in a variety of jazz groups, Big bands and other ensembles such as MSC Big Band, Not Quite Big Band and Top Deck. I have performed with many bands in Manchester including Bethlehem Casuals, Mancheska and Desi District Indian band. I have performed at festivals such as Brecon Jazz, Kendal Calling and Glastonbury. I was a keen singer and performed onstage in large scale musicals and several bands. I am currently a trainee music teacher, with three years TA and peripatetic experience.
