Brought up in the rural Scottish village of Port of Menteith, Seona begun playing violin at the relatively late age of 11. When she was 17, Seona won a place to study at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In 2019, Seona graduated from the RNCM with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Performance Violin. During her studies, Seona gained a wealth of experience in chamber music in orchestral playing. Highlights included being Leader of the RNCM Session Orchestra (accompanying pop bands), performing at Bridgewater Hall under Sir Mark Elder, playing Principle 2nd Violin in performance with Henning Kraggerud, and touring three times to Italy to perform in the International Art Festival in Montepulciano. Throughout her time in Manchester Seona also performed regularly in string quartets and trios at weddings and events across the North of England, and quickly began to realise how much she loves doing this. Weddings are such joyful occasions, and it is always a privilege to share in that and contribute to making it memorable and special. Following her graduation, Seona moved to Glasgow to complete a Masters in Violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, from which she has recently graduated. Seona is now living and working in Glasgow as a professional freelance violinist, and specialises in the genres of classical, pop and folk/trad. Seona is also the 1st Violinist of the Blythswood Quartet, which is available for hire at weddings and events.
