Sam Cave is an English guitarist and composer who left his native Cornwall to study with Gary Ryan and Chris Stell at the Royal College of Music in London with financial assistance from The Countess of Munster Musical Trust. He has also studied with Vincent Lindsey-Clark, Michael Zev-Gordon, Michael Finnissy, Gilbert Biberian and Craig Ogden and graduated from the University of Southampton with a first class honours degree and the Edward Wood memorial prize in music. Selected as a Park Lane Group Artist in 2012, Sam has performed in venues around the UK and abroad with appearances at the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Royal College of Music, Turner Sims Concert Hall, The National Gallery, St John’s Smith Square, Handel House, The Forge, London International Guitar Festival, Exhibition Road Music Day (European Day of Music), City Showcase Festival, Leeds Leider+ Festival, SoundSCAPE festival of contemporary music in Italy, The Institute of Contemporary Arts, LSO St. Luke’s, AVGARDE concert series in Norway, St James’s Piccadilly, the Purcell Room at the Southbank Centre and in the Tianjin May Festival in Tianjin, China. Sam’s passion for twentieth and twenty-first century repertoire shines through his work. To date he has given over 30 world, European and UK premiere performances of music by George Holloway, Hossein Hadisi, John Habron, Gabriel Prokofiev, Aldo Clementi and others. His own compositions have been performed in England, Norway, Sweden, Australia and the USA; he spends much of his time working with composers to create new works for the guitar. Sam is also an educator in much demand. He is currently visiting tutor in guitar at Brunel University’s Arts Centre and a lecturer in guitar at Brunel University’s School of Arts and is a guest lecturer in composition for guitar at Coventry University. He regularly gives group classes, lecture-recitals and demonstrations. Sam plays on a ‘super-concert guitar’ by Dutch luthier Jeroen Hilhorst

…It was straight away apparent that Sam’s technical and dynamic control were of the highest order….beautifully controlled….one of the most gorgeous renditions of Capricho Arabe I’ve ever heard….during the quieter passages you could have heard a pin drop, stunning….animated and physically dynamic…
