Rhiannon recently graduated from the Royal Academy Opera school where she studied with Lillian Watson and Jonathan Papp. Throughout her studies, Rhiannon has been fortunate to participate in masterclasses with artists such as Dame Josephine Barstow, Dame Emma Kirkby, Ann Murray DBE, Della Jones, Rebecca Evans, Adrian Thompson, James Gilchrist, Patricia MacMahon and François Le Roux. Rhiannon continues her studies with Janice Chapman.
In 2013, Rhiannon made her professional operatic début as the Sandman in Hänsel und Gretel at Garsington Opera for which she received the Leonard Ingrams Awards for Most Promising Young Artist. Recent and future operatic engagements include Armida Rinaldo for Longborough Festival Opera, Dalinda Ariodante, Anne Truelove The Rake's Progress and Nella Gianni Schicchi (all Royal Academy Opera), Anna (cover) Intermezzo and Lace Seller Death in Venice (both Garsington), Cesare Catone in Utica (Dartington), Dalinda (cover) Ariodante (Scottish Opera) and Frantik The Cunning Little Vixen, 1st Bridesmaid (cover) Le Nozze di Figaro (both Glyndebourne Opera).
Concert highlights include solo recitals at The Royal Opera House' Crush Room, Madrid's Real Academia de Belles Artes, St. John's Smith Square, Gower Music Festival, Cardiff Music Festival, Gloucester Cathedral and the Colston Hall, a programme of Handel Arias and Duets under Laurence Cummings (Kings Place), Bernstein's Mass under Kristjan Järvi (Royal Albert Hall- BBC Proms), Charlie Barber's Afrodisiac (Purcell Room), Mozart's Requiem under Paul Spicer (St. Martin-in-the-Fields), Orff's Carmina Burana (St. David's Hall), Dvorak's Te Deum (Arundel Cathedral), Orff's Carmina Burana under Howard Williams (Colston Hall - National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain), Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle under Jonathan Wilcocks (Chichester Cathedral), Stravinsky's Japanese & Balmont Songs with the Manson Ensemble (Duke's Hall), Mahler's 8th Symphony (Bristol Sinfonia), Handel's Messiah (Salford Cathedral), Handel's Messiah (Llandaff Cathedral - Welsh Sinfonia), Bach's St. John Passion (St. Martin-in-the-Fields - Choir of Christ College, Cambridge), Elgar's Coronation Ode (Guernsey) and Poulenc Gloria (Colston Hall).
Rhiannon was the winner of the 2013 First Prize in the Maggie Teyte Competition at the Royal Opera House and is a recipient of the Miriam Licette scholarship administered by Help Musicians UK. Other prizes include the 2013 Garsington Opera Leonard Ingrams Award for Most Promising Young Artist, First Prize at the 2014 MOCSA Young Welsh Singer Competition, First Prize at the 2014 John Kerr Award for Early English Song, First Prize at the 2015 AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition, the 2014 Dunraven Young Welsh Singer Award, the 2014 Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust Award, Second Prize at the 2014 Sir Anthony Lewis Memorial Competition, the 2014 Royal Academy of Music's Blodwen Cosslett Leyshon Prize and Second Prize in the London Welsh Young Singers Competition.
Other operatic rôles include Aristea in Hannah Conway's Heart in a Box (Garsington Opera Education), Polly Peachum Beggar's Opera (Longborough Festival Young Artists' Programme), Countess Almaviva The Marriage of Figaro, First Lady The Magic Flute (Opera'r Ddraig) and Erste Dame (cover) Die Zauberflöte for Royal Academy Opera, The Nightingale in Floyd's The Nightingale and the Rose (Gloucester Cathedral), Yara in Mario Ferraro's The Moonflower and Gala in Tom Floyd's The Shadow of the Wave (both Tète-â-Tète Festival).
Rhiannon is co-founder and former Artistic Director of the company Opera'r Ddraig. For her work with the company, she was invited by HM The Queen to a reception at Buckingham Palace in in recognition of the achievements of young people in the performing arts as well as leading the company to winning the Quality in Wales Future Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2010).
In her spare time, Rhiannon enjoys reading, yoga, knitting, running, hiking and drinking gin. She has yet to participate in all of these activities concurrently.
