About Max

London-based musical director, teacher and multi-instrumentalist.
Pianist
London

Max is a musical director, teacher and multi-instrumentalist. Formerly a music scholar of Brentwood School in Essex, he currently studies at Royal Holloway, University of London. Although he has a keen interest in instrumental works of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, particularly the Classical and Romantic symphonies as well as the piano works of Claude Debussy and Ludovico Einaudi, his true love has been and forever will be musical theatre. Always fascinated by the concept, he started off in the business as a performer, once taking the lead role in Oliver, however at the age of 11 he hung up his acting boots (probably for the best) and moved his priorities towards the backstage area - since then, as a multi-instrumentalist he has orchestrated, played in pit bands and taken part in recording sessions for nearly thirty different productions, both amateur and professional. A dedicated teacher devoted to his passion and determined to challenge and inspire, being a musical director is a job that suits him down to the ground, and previous MD credits include The Wiz (2013), Annie (2014), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (2015), Into the Woods (2015), Legally Blonde (Assistant MD - 2015) and RENT (2016). However, being a multi-instrumentalist and currently studying saxophone at university, he also thoroughly enjoys work as a pit musician and orchestral player. Max is a firm believer that music as a discipline inspires and invigorates the soul more than any other. He holds ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano, Saxophone and Clarinet.
