through most forms of popular music effortlessly, switching at will between genres. R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues ,Rock,
Gospel music depending on the venue he performs at. He does it ALL!
friDay was born in Dayton, Ohio USA began to take his songwriting and production seriously, so much so that his
inquiry to various studios led him to join his first band and performed for the first time in a nightclub venue at the
tender age of 16 in his hometown. After graduating from Jefferson High School he realized his most gratifying
accomplishment in his life when he co-produced a radio hit entitled Get It Right' and joined the band named Risqué
Business. In September 1989,friDay traveled to Asia and his band DAWAP performed in the historical Singapore venue
Top Ten Nightclub and was an instant success.
friDAY began to get the notoriety of being an energetic, high kicking performer (as written in an article published in The
Nation). friDay’s band attained a slew of successful nightclub stints in other countries such as Japan’s (Yokohama
Bayside Club 1990 & 1991), Hong Kong’s (Volvo Club 1992-1993), and in Singapore Caesar’s Nightclub’94. When
the group disbanded, friDAY landed in Bangkok in 1996 and performed in Leo Grotto .He focus on music production
and able to produce Thailand’s first rap artist Joey Boy whose album went gold. Through this he was able to continue
to perform and dazzle audiences at night and produce for many other Thai artists by day.
The other venues he performed in Thailand were Phoebus, Radio City, Sheraton Hotel’s Rivas, Impact Arena and well
as a stint as a piano player in the lobby of the prestigious Shangri La Hotel while producing artists such as Tata Young,
Thaitanium, Modern Dog, Boyd Kosiabong and P.O.P.
In 2011, Friday completed a 6 months performance contract at the Orchard Hotel
Singapore as the pianist and vocalist in a duo colloboration with Singer /Entertainer
FARAH followed by another continuos 9 months running performance contract
engagement at the FAIRMONT Singapore . FARAH & FRIDAY produces what is best
described to give you infectious grooves with Jazz Virtuosity, Urban Funk with
sophisticated finesse .The duo flows from ballads easy listenings to high energy..you will
never know what to expect on their repertoires each night.
friDay (John R. Long II) is an exceptional hit making producer/composer/arranger who
stays ahead of the curve of current musical trends while remaining true to the integrity of the music and the style of
each artist he produces even the music he performs on his stage.
Diversity in music production is key in sustaining a profitable long-term recording label and friDAY is well suited to
produce professional quality music in many different genres. friDAY has produced, composed and arranged for Tata
Young, Thai hip hop group Thaitanium, Thai rock group Modern Dog and also produced the first hip hop album in
Thailand’s history for the artist Joey Boy.
In total, his production with various artists has sold more than 8 million units. Recent examples of his work can be
found on Farah’s promotional CD Except For Love on which he produced 2 songs, the title track Except For Love and
Uncertain.
In 2008, friDAY was recognized and awarded for the best international producer in DOPETRACKS. An independent
on- line website.
friDay currently resides in Singapore and continues with music projects with various corporations & perform in various
venues.He has begun pre-production on his own as yet untitled album to be released by the end of the year and touring
to produce and continues to perform with his duo collaboration as FARAH & friDAY.
