About Helen

Freelance mezzo-soprano working part-time for InterAct Stroke Support.
singer (Mezzo Soprano)
United Kingdom

Helen first began singing when she joined Coventry Blue Coat School Choir at the age of eleven and went on to sing solos in York Minster, and Salisbury and Wells Cathedrals. During her time at Cambridge University she was a choral scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge and studied with Fiona Dobie. Now learning with Sarah Pring, she hopes to pursue a solo career as a mezzo-soprano. Solo work has included Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Bach’s St John Passion. She has also played the supporting female, Liddy, in the student-composed opera Far From the Madding Crowd (Barnaby Martin, 2012), Romeo in Purcell’s Fairy Queen: Re-imagined (Sophie Rashbrook, 2012) and Lapak in Janacek’s Cunning Little Vixen (2013). Helen has recorded numerous CDs with Trinity College Choir and has toured America, Canada and Germany with the ensemble in her three years as an undergraduate. Helen now sings with The Carice Singers, Sansara and The Laycock Scholars as well as regularly deputising in Hampstead Parish Church, St Pancras Parish Church and St Pancras Old Church. As well as singing, Helen also plays the clarinet and piano.
