Erkki is a Finnish violinist currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music with the renowned Professor Yair Kless. During the year 2015-2016 Erkki studied at the College as an erasmus exchange student and will finish his Bachelor studies there next year. During his time in Manchester, Erkki has already won a number of prizes both by himself and with his piano trio (Louko Trio) formed in September 2015. These prizes includes the Hirsch prize, Nossek prize, Chris Rowland ensemble of the year prize, Norman George Violin Scholarship prize and the RNCM concerto auditions. Erkki's piano trio also won the Chamber music competition of the Piano Society of Europe in Steinway Hall, London in 2016. As a soloist, Erkki has also won a special prize in the Henri Marteau Violin Competition in Germany 2014 and was a finalist in the National Kuopio Violin Competition in Finland 2015 performing the Brahms violin concerto. Erkki has also participated in a lot of masterclasses with world renowned teachers such as Christian Tetzlaff, Ana Chumachenko, Zakhar Bron, Tuomas Haapanen, Aaron Rosand, Hagai Shaham and Tanja Becker-Bender. As a chamber musician he have taken part on masterclasses of Frans Helmerson, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, Wu Qian, Jeremy Young, Hatto Beyerle and Paavo Pohjola. The Louko Piano Trio has been invited to take part in a coaching of ECMA in May 2017. As a Soloist Erkki has performed with Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Jyväskylä Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, and The Burnley Orchestra with conductors such as Jaakko Kuusisto, Ari Rasilainen sekä Alberto Hold Garrido. Next year Erkki will play the Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.1 with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra.
