Pianist Emiko Edwards has been hailed for her "flawless accuracy and dynamicism." She has received awards and accolades for her performances throughout the United States and abroad. By age ten, she had made her piano concerto debut, appearing with the New Sussex Symphony and by age eleven she had won her first international piano competition. Other appearances with orchestra include performances with the Westfield and Manalapan Battleground Symphonies. Recent engagements include a performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Guildhall Brass Ensemble, and a performance and broadcast of Gorecki's Piano Sonata and 4 Preludes for BBC3. Ms. Edwards has been featured in performances at Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall), Merkin Concert Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Yamaha Salon, as well as in Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Paul Hall, and Morse Hall at The Juilliard School. She was invited to perform in the Gijon International Piano Festival's benefit concert at the Tenri Cultural Institute alongside pianists Spencer Meyer and Jenny Lin, and in the Patriots Theater at the Trenton War Memorial to benefit the Hope for Henry Foundation. With the recommendation of the head of The Juilliard School's piano department (Yoheved Kaplinsky) , Ms. Edwards as well as Ms. Jingyi Zhang were asked to perform together in the 2013 Youth America Grand Prix Gala held at the David H. Koch Theater performing the US premier of an original composition by Karen Lefrak. Ms. Edwards has also performed internationally-in Spain, Japan, and Canada. Ms. Edwards' playing and interviews have been featured in two documentaries, On a Personal Note and "Piano Forte": The Julia Crane International Piano Competition, both which have aired nationally. Past awards and recognitions have included the following: Winner of the Bachauer Scholarship Competition (Juilliard Pre-College), an award which allowed her to attend her final year of Juilliard Pre-College on full-tuition; 1st Prize in the 18th International Young Artist Piano Competition, in Washington D.C.; 1st Place in the New York State Music Teachers National Association Competition which was subsequently followed by a 1st Prize win at the Eastern Division Regional Competition (representing the state of New York) of the Music Teachers National Association; winner of the Open Class and Richard Tang Yuk Award in the Princeton Festival Piano Competition (under age 25); 3rd Prize in the 5 Towns Music & Art Foundation Competition at age 18 (ages 17 to 28); 3rd Prize at the Cape Vincent International Piano Competition; 5th Prize at the Fourth Julia Crane International Piano Competition; and 1st Prize Ensemble at The New York Piano Competition presented by The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. Ms. Edwards has been a participant in the Gijon International Piano Festival, an artist in residence and scholarship recipient of the Banff Summer Music Festival, and a participant and scholarship recipient of the Orford Arts Festival. Master Class performances include those with Marc Durand, Ronan O'Hora, Robert McDonald, Andre Michel Schub, Joseph Kalichstein, Jerome Lowenthal, Miyoko Lotto, John Perry, and Jacques Rouvier. Chamber Music studies include those with Choong Mo Kang, Giora Schmitt, and The New York Woodwind Quintet. Former teachers include Ingrid Clarfield and Chiu-tze Lin. An avid advocate for outreach and community, Ms. Edwards was the artistic director for The Five Boroughs Performing Arts Series from 2011-2012, a concert series dedicated to spreading dance, music, and drama throughout New York City. In partnership with the Boys Club of New York, she organized and executed concerts in the Bronx, Queens, and Lower Manhattan. Throughout her years at The Juilliard School Ms. Edwards has been an active member of the community acting as a peer mentor to freshman students. During the summer of 2013, Ms. Edwards participated in the Juilliard Drama Intensive as a teacher at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. Over the years she has both organized and performed many solo recitals in senior assisted living centers. Ms. Edwards graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors Degree from The Juilliard School where she was a student of Julian Martin and a Piano Minor Teaching Fellow during the 2013-2014 academic year. She is currently based in London, where she is pursuing her Masters Degree at the Guildhall School for Music and Drama under the tutelage of Ronan O'Hora. Upcoming engagements include a solo recital in the Silk Street Music Hall and a performance of Brahms' 1st Piano Concerto with the Cambridge Graduate Orchestra. Ms. Edwards has been very fortunate to have the support of Linklaters during her studies at The Guildhall School.

The 17.30 concert was shared by the BBC Singers under David Hill and the pianist Emiko Edwards. Edwards played the two student works with fire and understanding, both crisp and robust.
