A tenor from Monmouth, Andrew is in his second year on the MA Opera Performance Course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he studies with Adrian Thompson and Michael Pollock. His studies are supported by a Help Musicians UK Tutton Award, the South Square Trust Fund, the RWCMD Shirley Bassey Award and the Elizabeth Evans Trust. He was a finalist in the 2015 Dunraven Young Welsh Singer of the Year. Operatic engagements have included Albert in Albert Herring, Schoolmaster in The Cunning Little Vixen, First Armed Man and Tamino (cover) in The Magic Flute for RWCMD Opera, Renzo (cover) in Dove The Little Green Swallow with British Youth Opera, Le Remendado in Carmen with Opera'r Ddraig and Prince Philippe in Berkeley A Dinner Engagement for Bute Park Opera. In the summer of 2015 he was a chorus member with Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Upcoming engagements include Fenton in Falstaff with RWCMD Opera, Christoph in Maxwell Davies Kommilitönen! with Welsh National Youth Opera and Spirit of the Masque in Gloriana with the St. Endellion Festival. Equally comfortable on the concert platform, Andrew has featured as a soloist in Handel Messiah and Samson, Bach Magnificat in D and Easter Oratorio, CPE Bach Magnificat, Mozart Requiem, Vespers and Mass in C Minor, Beethoven Mass in C, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle and Puccini Messa di Gloria. In January 2016 he performed Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. Andrew is generously supported by the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales, the Split Infinitive Trust, the Ryan Davies Memorial Fund and Mr Chris Ball. Andrew began singing at Haberdasher's Monmouth School for Boys with David Lawson and Ian Dollins. After accepting a place at the University of Exeter to study English, he joined Exeter Cathedral Choir as a choral scholar, where he spent three years until graduating with upper second-class honours in 2012. Originally performing as a baritone, he made the transition to tenor after enrolling at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance (Merit) in 2014. He is a former lay clerk at Llandaff Cathedral and sings with the cathedral choirs of Bristol and Gloucester as a deputy.
