Alice recently participated in the Welsh National Opera’s 'side-by-side' scheme and will perform in their ‘Youth Opera’ project in the Summer. Alice took up the violin aged five under the tutelage of Daphne Moody. At school, Alice achieved her ABRSM Diploma whilst learning with Richard Parsons and was also a keen jazz trombonist and singer. She continued her violin studies with Roger Huckle at the University of Bristol where she became leader of the Symphony, Chamber and Festival Orchestras. On graduating with a 2:1 Honours in Music in 2015, Alice was awarded the Ladyman Bequest Prize for excellence in chamber music. Alice is an enthusiastic chamber musician and has enjoyed masterclasses with the Medici and Doric String Quartets. Alice is an experienced Baroque player and has performed in masterclasses with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Rachel Podger. Alice was a soloist in Corelli’s Christmas Concerto at the Royal Albert Hall in the Schools Proms, in Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso in D minor with Bristol University String Orchestra and in Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with the University Baroque Ensemble. In 2015 she was invited to attend a specialist Baroque violin course with Maggie Faultless in Marnaves. Alice took part in the Brecon Baroque Festival 2015. www.alicepoppleton.com
