Below The Border are a fabulously talented band who played at our wedding anniversary party. Our guests were not exactly spring chickens but absolutely everyone was dancing to their favourite songs from the 70s until midnight. Our friends kept asking us, “Who are they and where did you find them?” Some of the lads had record contracts back in the day and that was immediately apparent as soon as they struck up. Brilliant guitarists and singers. Lovely harmony vocals from Gail. Everything sounded exactly like the original records. And they were such nice polite people. They arrived bang on time, set up their equipment unobtrusively and played two sets of wonderful music. No fuss. Not an ego in sight. Real Pro’s. Highly recommended! Thanks so much boys. You made our party such a fantastic success. We’ve had so many messages from our friends about you. “Gobsmacked by your band” was one and loads more saying “Fab band” and ‘Brilliant band”.

Below the Border was the absolute perfect addition to our Christmas party. They were super easy to organise everything with and very understanding. On the night they were really slick setting up and didn’t disturb the pre party dinner at all. We are all big music fans and they were absolutely amazing. Fab song choices and as both a band and musicians were incredible. Below the Border were true professionals who I will be recommending to everyone. What do your clients love most about your performances?

That we sound exactly like the original 60s & 70s hit records. Folk tell us covers-bands often make all the songs sound the same; but we don’t. So Alright Now SOUNDS like Free and Honky Tonk Women SOUNDS like The Rolling Stones, etc. When we do Hendrix or Clapton eyes go wide - our lead guitarist replicates solos but also SOUNDS like the original artist

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

In our past: Town Halls Big Festivals Football Stadiums Universities Rock clubs here & across Europe Now: Mainly parties and weddings of all shapes and sizes; but also some big-stage festivals, beer festivals and rock venues. Last summer we played a Gypsy wedding and were not told the secret location until that day - a random field on the South Downs.

We cover: Free, David Bowie, T-Rex, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, Bachman Turner Overdrive , Thin Lizzy, Cream, Badfinger, Golden Earring, The Beatles, The Faces, Steppenwolf, Steve Miller, ZZ Top, Wilson Picket, The Hollies, The Spencer Davis Group, The Doors, Tina Turner and many more We choose rock hits that get people dancing.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Too many to list. SOME examples:- BBC TV & radio appearances including John Peel Town Halls & Theatres Festivals: e.g. recent sundown spot Guilford Football Stadium Universities: e.g. Warwick, Kent, York, Birmingham Famous Rock Venues: e.g Half Moon & Dingwalls London, Band on the Wall Manchester, Barbarellas Birmingham, - too many for this form.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes - of course. Rob takes most LV and Gail harmony; but Gail takes LV on about 5 songs Gail is Dave Stewart’s cousin (The Eurythmics) but her biggest claim to fame is once making a cup of tea for Bob Dylan in Dave’s mum’s little house in Newcastle.

Do you have different line-up options?

No But you can also book our optional support act if you want - for a separate small fee. See the section that Encore call “Add-Ons”. (Whatever happened to correct English Grammar 🤣)

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Never a problem. We’ve done too many miles to sweat the small stuff. Clients’ party timings often change - so what? If you book Below the Border, the last thing you’ll have to worry about for your party is the band.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yep. We don’t have a DJ service but have met enough of them over the years to recommend one that you’ll like if you tell us which genre you want. Also we can provide an iPod play-list for you.

How much time do you need to set up?

One hour. We have a state of the art PA but our back line amplifiers and our guitars are vintage - because they SOUND better. More authentic. Consequently we can set up and sound check without fuss - just like the old days! We are happy to plan our set up and sound check times around your party arrangements, just tell us what you need.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course. We constantly switch songs around from our extensive catalogue. So if you’ve seen something in our list that you particularly love, just tell us when you book and we’ll put it in our current show. Also we can learn one of your favourite songs new before your party - so long as it’s not The Bay City Rollers or Jimmy Osmund!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes of course. No tricks, no dramas.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes this happens all the time. Ask for your favourite hit and we’ll play it just like the record. Our lead guitarist does Hendrix solos note for note but also SOUNDS just like Jimi Then we’ll do a T-Rex song and he’ll sound exactly like Marc Bolan - bless!
